This paper is a rough draft of a proposal that I wrote last Saturday. I wanted to you to see how I am framing my questions, thinking about sources, and creating direction for the paper. I also wanted you to see that you are not alone in this process. As you work on your EE and IA, I am also working on papers as well. I am not requiring you to do a project proposal like this, but it would be a good exercise for you to start getting your thoughts organized and see where the holes in your research plan may be. My paper is a little different than yours - it will be a bit longer and therefore may cover a little more, it is probably more heavily based on an area that has few direct secondary sources. But, the process of writing and research is the same. At this point in your research, you should be able to put together something like what I have. If you cannot, then you have not done the background reading necessary. You may still be stuck on step 2 of our research guide (see IA research packet), and you are not ready to move on to steps 3 and 4. This proposal is something that I guess I would put in-between steps 3 and 4, or maybe, between steps 4 and 5. If you are not at this point yet, you are not lost, but you do need to focus you efforts. This applies to both the History IA and most EEs.
